ServicesUniversal Life Insurance

Universal Life Insurance in Flower Mound

Universal life is permanent coverage you can adjust over the years. Premiums can go up or down within limits, and the face amount can change when your needs do. We fund it so it lasts, explain each illustration and keep a copy of every step.

Permanent Coverage With Room to Adjust

Universal life combines coverage meant to last your lifetime with an account that builds cash value. Each month the insurer deducts the cost of insurance and fees, then credits interest to the balance left over. You can pay more in a strong year and less in a tight one, provided the account can still cover the charges.

That flexibility is the reason to choose it and the reason it needs care. The cost of insurance rises with age, so a policy funded at the bare minimum can run dry in your seventies or eighties. We build the plan around how long you want coverage to last, then show you exactly how the premium supports it.

For clients who only need coverage while children are young or a loan is open, term life insurance is usually the simpler fit. If you want guaranteed premiums that never change, whole life insurance may suit you better. We will say so plainly.

What We Handle for You

A review of what you already own
If you have an existing policy, we copy each page of your latest annual statement and walk through the cash value, charges and projected lapse age. You keep that record.
Side-by-side illustrations
We run guaranteed universal life, current-assumption and indexed designs at the same face amount. You see the guaranteed column next to the projected one, never just the rosier number.
Funding set to a target age
We size the premium so the policy is projected to stay in force to the age you choose, often 90, 100 or beyond.
Beneficiary and rider setup
We confirm primary and contingent beneficiaries line by line and explain riders such as chronic illness or waiver of premium before anything is added.
Application support
We help you prepare for the health questions and any exam, and you receive a copy of the application exactly as it was submitted.
Yearly policy checkups
Once a year we ask the insurer for an updated projection and set it beside the plan you started with. If funding has slipped, you find out while a small adjustment can still put it right.

Signs Universal Life Is Worth a Look

  • You want coverage into your eighties and beyond

Most term policies expire well before then, and buying new coverage at an advanced age gets expensive. A universal life design can be set to last for life.

  • Your income moves around

Business owners and commissioned earners often prefer premiums they can raise or lower within limits.

  • You are planning an estate transfer

A guaranteed design can leave a set amount to heirs or cover estate costs at a lower premium than whole life.

  • An old policy statement worries you

A rising monthly charge or a projected lapse date on a policy bought in the 1990s or 2000s is a reason to have it reviewed now, not later.

  • Your term coverage is ending

Many term policies can convert to universal life without new medical questions, but only before a deadline set in the contract.

What Shapes Your Premium

With universal life, part of the premium is your own decision. How long you want the guarantees to hold and how much cash value you hope to build both move the figure, so a healthy client at one age might see several quite different numbers for the same face amount. We set out each trade-off on paper before you choose.

Your age and rating

During underwriting the insurer reviews your health, family history and tobacco use, then assigns a rating. A less favorable rating raises the monthly cost of insurance for as long as the policy stays in force.

Face amount

A larger death benefit means higher monthly charges against the cash value.

Guarantee length

A no-lapse guarantee to age 100 costs more than one to age 90. A current-assumption design costs less up front but carries more risk if rates fall.

Policy design

Indexed universal life ties crediting to a market index with caps and floors, while guaranteed designs build little cash value but cost less.

Riders

Chronic illness, waiver of premium and child riders each add a charge that we list separately.

How a Universal Life Plan Comes Together

  1. 1

    An initial phone call

We start with the people who rely on your income, how many years coverage should run and a premium you can carry without strain. If you already hold a policy, we set up a time to go over its statements.

  2. 2

    Illustrations with the assumptions shown

We meet at your business or wherever suits you and lay out each design. Every illustration lists its crediting rate and guarantee period, and we leave copies with you.

  3. 3

    Application and underwriting

Once you choose, we complete the application together. Underwriting can take a few weeks, and we keep you updated on records requests and exam scheduling.

  4. 4

    Delivery and the first year

When the policy is issued, we go through the contract page by page, confirm the beneficiaries and note your first checkup date.

Universal Life Questions We Hear

How is universal life different from whole life?

Whole life has a fixed premium and guaranteed cash value growth. Universal life lets you adjust premiums and the death benefit, but the cash value depends on interest credits and charges. That gives you flexibility, and it also means the policy needs regular attention.

What happens if the cash value runs low?

The coverage can end. When the account balance no longer pays the monthly cost of insurance and fees, and no lapse guarantee protects it, the insurer sends a grace period notice and then terminates the policy. Older contracts run into this more than any other problem. Each year we compare your updated projection to the original plan, so extra premium can go in while it still makes a difference.

What is a no-lapse guarantee?

It is a contract provision that keeps the policy in force to a set age as long as you pay a specified premium on time, regardless of how the cash value performs. Late or skipped payments can shorten or void it, so we explain exactly what keeps it intact.

Can I take money out of the policy?

Once enough value has built up, most contracts permit a policy loan or a partial withdrawal. Loan balances accrue interest and lower what your beneficiary receives, and drawing too much can lapse the policy and leave a tax bill. Before you take anything, we run an illustration that shows the effect.

Is indexed universal life a good investment?

It is insurance first. Caps, participation rates and charges limit the upside, and projections assume rates that may change. It can suit some clients who want permanent coverage with some growth potential, and we show the guaranteed values alongside the projections.
